Thanksgiving Tradition Continues

For many years, SUMC has worked with Scott’s Run to provide all the “fixins” for Thanksgiving dinner for families in our community. The Mission Team’s goal this year is to raise $6,500 to fill 110 baskets with nonperishable items, fresh fruit, and turkey. Your generous contributions will make it happen! Just note “Thanksgiving Baskets” on your check or envelope. Volunteers will be needed November 19 to help with food distribution.

Angel Tree: A Program of Prison Fellowship

December 3

This holiday season, our middle and high school youth groups will be partnering with Angel Tree-Prison Fellowship to minister to children who have incarcerated parents. The Angel Tree program serves incarcerated parents by providing a pathway for strengthening and restoring their relationships with their children and families. Angel Tree tags will be in the narthex starting November 12 if you would like to buy a gift for these special children. On December 3, we will be serving 16 families by taking 25 children Christmas shopping, feeding them dinner and wrapping presents. The children will be able to buy gifts for their family members. We will need volunteers to go shopping with us, wrap presents, and serve dinner. We would like to have all the youth participate along with volunteers, we hope this will be a successful ministry. If you would like to volunteer on this special day, please contact Yvonne Lee, 724-833-4279, or the church office. We plan to have lunch and sensitivity training at 12:30 pm on the 3rd floor and leave the church following and return to the church for dinner.
