COURAGEOUS BIBLE STUDY:  8-week Bible study based on the movie COURAGEOUS begins Sunday, Feb. 5.  You can attend during the Sunday school hour at 10 a.m. or the evening session at 5:30 p.m.*  Registration forms in the narthex.  *Please note that the first "evening" session will be held immediately after church on Feb. 5th, due to the Super Bowl.  Lunch will be provided.

 2012 Suncrest UMC ALABAMA Mission Trip:  February 5, 2012, you will have the opportunity to make a special offering for Adult Missions.  This money will be used for our Alabama Mission trip scheduled for March 25-31, 2012.  The cost of the trip is $150 per person which covers the sleeping accommodations and food for the week.   You may also  make a donation on line by clicking here!!! 

Transportation is the responsibility of each participant.  Any donations specified for Mission Trip will go toward providing materials needed as well as scholarships for parishioners who want to go on the trip, but do not have the funds.  Please consider going with us, or contributing to this very worthwhile cause.  Special Note:  We are going to Sylvania, Alabama, Upper Sand Mountain Parish.  This area is the same area that was hit yet again (after being severely ravaged by some 62 tornadoes last April) with several deadly tornadoes about 10 days ago, so apparently, we are headed in the right direction.  For more information or to sign up, please contact:  Judy Moore (judymmoore@aol.com) or Val Markel (valmarkel@comcast.net.)

NEW GIVING OPTIONS AT SUMC:  You can now make your contributions, registration fees, etc by using PAYPAL, your Visa, Mastercard, or Discover Card on the church website as well as in the church office.  EFT Offerings are also available:  EFT’s (Electronic Funds Transfers) can be authorized for bi-weekly or monthly contributions and must be renewed annually.  Funds are transferred on the 5th and 20th of each month, based on your preferences. PRAYER QUILT MINISTRY WORK DAY! Saturday February 18, 2012.  10 a.m. thru 4 p.m. Prayer quilt day session. Come help us strengthen our ministry. Teaching session, discussion, decision making and fellowship, all while we build our stash back up for 2012. Bring a snack to share….we will provide water, juice, coffee and tea.  

Make Your Valentines Day “POP”:  The new Young Woman’s Circle is selling red velvet and chocolate “cake pops” as their 1^st fund raiser. The cost is $1.00 each and payment will be received at pickup on Sunday, February 12^th. Orders will be accepted through Sunday, February 5^th. To place an order, three methods are available for your convenience complete the order form below and place in the offering plate sign up in the lobby at the information booth or contact April Messerly at ans6c@alumni.virginia.edu.  Net proceeds from this fund raiser will be going toward projects to help area youth including the "Back Pack Snack Program facilitated through SRSH which sends food home in the backpacks of local children who are at risk for going hungry over weekend. 

SPECIAL OFFERING FOR THE SENIOR HIGH YOUTH MISSION TRIP:  The Dominican Republic Mission Team is comprised of 15 SUMC high school youth and adult leaders.  They will travel in June to aid in the construction of food warehouses designed to offer storage for 1 million meals annually.  They will also participate in "Delivering Food to the Hungry", which is a one-on-one feeding program.  In addition, the team will offer a 3-morning Vacation Bible School for local underprivileged children.  The team needs to raise an additional $10,000 to reach their goal of $21,500.  There is a special offering envelope on Feb. 19 which will help this team reach their final fundraising goal.  You may also make a donation using your credit card or paypal account by clicking here!Please plan to give generously to this important mission!
