Volunteers-In- Missions Scotland Trip 2010
Day 1: Left Morgantown about 12:30 with Val, Larry and Donna. Clark McKee and Sean were our drivers to Sterling VA and the Candlewood Suites. Stopped in Friendsville to pick up our 5th traveler, Connie. Met up with the van and our other 12 travelers at the Hotel. After relaxing for about 1 1/2 hours we had dinner at Maaroni Grill and then back to our hotel for a good nights sleep to get our loooonnng traveling day started. I will keep you posted as much as I am able. Hopefully I will be able to have internet connection in Scotland. If not I will try to find a carrier pigeon!!! Pray for our continued safe travels. Talk with you soon
comment posted by Nancy on 07-29-2010 Received your post card today Robin. I also heard that you are in Washington DC. Have a safe trip back to West Virginia. comment posted by Donna Goodwin on 07-23-2010 Today is Friday. We have seen lots of castles and lots..........of back windy country roads and very poor drivers. The weather has been in the 50's and 60's with a little rain at times on some of the days. We haven't had any rain today. We are taking turns cooking the evening meals form recipes in our heads. We were able to buy a waffle iron and I made waffles this morning.
will e-mail again at another time.
comment posted by Robin Renn on 07-22-2010 Finally made it on the internet. Took a while here in Scotland. We are having fun touring around and seeing lots of castles, runis and historical places. Larry G is one of our drivers. Donna is crocheting and doing some of the dinners. I actually made soup one evening and Val made brownies. I bought a kilt and will wear it one day to church!!! We have not done any actual \"Work\" but are following John Wesley\'s path in Scotland and northern England. Rather interesting. Went to a Methodist church last Sunday and are going to find one again for this Sunday. Mostly the Methodist churches are in England. The weather has not gotten over 70 and mist falls most days with some severe rain falls. There are millions of sheep and I have picked up some wool on the side of the roads. I am hoping to get enough to make a jacket. NOT!!! They have a Scottish cow here called the Highland Cow...it is adorable. I told Joe we needed to get some. He said no:-))) We hope to have some work to do next week before heading home Friday. The people here are very friendly and talkative...especially if Larry gets to them first! I swear he makes friends everywhere. I realize there is a lot I don\'t know about other countries and their customs. It makes you really appreciate what you have and realize just how lucky we are and blessed. Anyway, enjoy your meeting Tuesday evening and think of me now and then and send up a prayer for a safe return home.
Beannachd leat and Oidhcle mhath or Blessings go with you and good night
